Report

With a forced quick change in goal we had to start with Chris between the sticks, he did a fantastic job making some superb saves, even thier coach agreed, Lewis was at right back and had a great game only tiring just after the re-start so a swap for Tom was called for and he was excellent. Ryan at left back again playing out of his skin even after taking several kicks to the ankle, Brandon and Jonny in the centre half position and worked brilliantly together and unusually we started with 5 across the back with Andy stepping in a central defence roll sweeping and spreading the play. Jamie on the right wing and Skipper Kirky on the left as usual creating some lovely football, they perfect inthat role going up and down the wings, cutting in and battling for the ball also putting in some fantastic crosses. Kirky scored 2 amazing goals for the BLUE ARMY one assisted from Tyler who was one of the strikers and the other from James who came on in the second half for Andy and played between the centre defence. Our other striker was Jason who we asked to drop into midfield and pick the ball up which he did numerous times and looked more than comfortable. Cale started in centre  midfield and ran his socks off chasing every ball but tired due to hard graft, like Lewis earlier,so we swapped him for Lee a fresh pair of legs. Shortly after Sam came on in midfield and got stuck straight in creating more chances and hassling the opposition enough to start making mistakes. If ever the phrase " The scoreline does not reflect hte game " todays game was it, The first half as usual we were still at home tucked up in bed for the first 10 minutes but a shock goal kinda woke us up, enough to go up the other end of the pitch a score a well deserved and well worked goal. Then our niceness came back and didn't want to tackle anyone hence the halftime score 1-5. From the re-start we took control and we had 80% possession of the ball and played some beautiful football, passing and moving, triangles, overlapping and switchplay, again scoring another beautifully worked goal, we looked comfortable at the back and by far the better team going forward, skimming the cross bar twice, the post more than once and forcing some great saves from thier keeper. Unfortunately the final score doesn't show a true picture, anyone watching a video of this game would NEVER say it would end up with the scoreline it did.
