MATCH REPORTS - THE OPPOSITION'S VIEW

BLACKPOOL RANGERS BLUE [15 Feb @ 4:35pm]

This was our easiest game so far this season. The Blues faithful witnessed an astonishing performance at the Gala field against Layton Clarets, in their first meeting for two seasons. The Blues started slowly and within 5 minutes Layton took the lead when a corner-kick sailed directly into the net. Soon after, Layton were awarded a penalty and Corey’s heroic double save triggered a sensational offensive Blues performance. Almost immediately, Alex equalised and this was the beginning of a very impressive attacking display. A brace from Myles and goals from Sam, Nick and a superb first half hat-trick from Christy stunned the visitors, as the Blues took an 8 – 2 lead into the break. Layton pulled two goals back early in the second half before the Blues again stepped up a gear. Christy’s clinical finishing earned him his second hat-trick of the game and Lewis’s well deserved strike completed the scoring. Man of the Match was awarded to six goal hero Christy for a faultless striker’s performance. Alex and Lewis must also be mentioned for their excellent contributions. Several of the goals scored were breathtaking, with lovely creative football played from the defence

THORNTON CLEVELYS VIEW OF OUR VICTORY [10 Feb @ 4:31pm]

Well done Today Lads with a battling display! In the past this Thornton Team, albeit with a few different faces, would of given up after going 3-1 down! Today the 12 who played their part in this Game should be proud of their commitment and effort to the cause! and at 3-3 I felt we were going to go on and win it! In the end though Layton took their chances well and in fairness they created more than we did over the 70 minutes, on what was a difficult surface. A few more Training sessions with the same effort/Commitment as was shown last Friday and the results will start to turn our way! The Football on display today at times was Fantastic! HAVE FAITH and WELL DONE AGAIN!

FC RANGERS [15 Nov @ 9:54pm]

laytonjuniors are a big physical side today we told our players they had to match them in all departments, 1st half we were the more creative and we wanted it more than layton, we did dominate the half but we never underestimated our opponents. we had to be 1st to the ball we had to pass and move & to give layton little. we lost to layton 4 2 the 1st game of the season because they wanted it more & we wasn,t up for it. today we were the team who was up for it, our defence today was outstanding, we scored on 30mins shivam rawat,s goal inside their 6 yard box, ln the 2nd half we made changes and continued to dominate but layton pushed players up to try & get the equalizer layton had a one on one with our keeper but his shot just went wide of the post. in the last minute jamie cleland scored our 2nd chipping their keeper, this was a tense 70mins of football to beat layton and keep a clean sheet was a great result. todays game was end to end none stop football

KIRKHAM give cedit to the clarets - 17/10/10 [9 Nov @ 12:00am]

Layton Juniors Clarets FC 1 Kirkham Junior FC (U13's REDS) 6 Will Higham (2) Tom Gargett (1) Jacob Smith (2) Brandon Alexander (1) The third game of the league season saw Kirkham travel away to Layton Juniors for the first ever meeting of these two sides. Layton who had been promoted from the 'B' league last season have had a good start to the season picking up points at several well established 'A' league teams. As far as the game goes, Kirkham started the quicker of the two, setting the tempo of the game with several slick passing moves, which Layton were struggling to cope with. Kirkham defensively looked solid as ever, which as the boys are now learning is key to our success. As the saying goes ''the defence wins games... the attack decide by how many''!! The first half saw Kirkham establish a comfortable 4-0 lead, with Jacob smith scoring two, Will Higham and Tom Gargett also both adding one each. Kirkham were causing chaos in the Layton defence, will set piece specialist Shaun Hunt landing deliveries from corners and free kicks on the money every time. Other scoring chances were created throughout the half, but some last ditch defending and good goal keeping by Layton kept the score reasonable. After a great first half, Kirkham were then able to make several substitutions, allowing for all five boys who started sub to get good game time and show their desire and ability in reflection to starting the next game. The second half, however, was much more tightly contested, and every credit to Layton, who put more pressure on the Kirkham players, and their big imposing players began to gain a foothold in the game. There were still opportunities for the Kirkham players, especially towards the end as the Layton defence who had been working extremely hard all game began to tire. Brandon Alexander was causing problems down the right hand side and was rewarded for his efforts with a powerful drive from close range. Will Higham scored his second of the day from another Shaun Hunt delivery, taking his tally to three goals already, which for a centre back is a great return. Some preesure down the Kirkham left side led to a Layton free kick, which they whipped in, and after two missed clearances by Kirkham, the Layton lad thumped the ball home from close range. There was still time for Kirkham to miss a penatly through James Boardman, but every credit to the captain for taking the initiative and stepping up to take the penalty after a very strong performance throughout. All in all a very good performance from Kirkham. There is still a lot more to come from this group of players, which for other teams has to be a worry. Some very good individual performances yet again, coming from, Shaun Hunt, James Boardman and Jacob Smith. Well done both sets of lads!!

YMCA PRAISE LAYTON CLARETS EFFORTS [13 Oct @ 9:14pm]

A Great match report indicating how hard YMCA had to work to win this fixture, well done to the Clarets, our toughest match thus far. Today we travelled to Moore Park to play Layton Clarets in a league fixture arranged by them and ourselves to get ahead with the fixtures as neither side had a game arranged. It was a glorious day but the ground was still a little heavy and we found it difficult to get into our stride. This was more evident when we found ourselves a goal down very early on down to a good strike by the opposition. We began to settle and were awarded a free-kick some distance out which Ellis Hancox floated impressively over their keepers’ head to level at 1-1. Not too long after that we found ourselves in front after some hard work from Kit Gregory which ended up with us being awarded a penalty for handball, Calum Hendry calmly dispatched. The home side continued to work hard and we needed to up our own work-rate, which we did, and soon before half-time we were rewarded with another goal, this time coming from a Jordan Milligan corner which Tommy Harrison finished after a bit of a goal mouth scramble, this saw us go in at half-time 3-1 up. The second half started in similar fashion with neither team taking their foot of the gas, but it was YMCA who struck again through Chris Clinch after an unfortunate spill from the Layton keeper after another dangerous Hancox free-kick, the finish was cleverly done from a very tight angle. Layton then gave themselves hope clawing a goal back to make it 4-2, which it stayed at for a while before any hopes Layton had were destroyed by another Clinch goal after some solid defending by James Corbett, back in the game after an early injury. Jacob Anderson was very impressive again and worked hard throughout. Congratulations to the lads who came away with all three points after a decent battle with a hard working Layton.
