Under 12's Pizza League Champions
Well thats that then!!!! How good does that sound?
Who would of thought at the end of October having lost 5 of our first 8 matches, that by the beginning of May we would be one victory away from sealing the championship.
So it all came down to Thursday nights match V Warton Typhoons. It was never going to be easy with us already having lost twice to them this season. Warton also had it all to play for as a victory for them and defeat for The Clarets would mean that they could still win the league themselves.
From the outset the lads looked really up for it and if anything the coaches were more nervous than them. We soon settled into our rythmn and broke forward on a couple of occassions but just lacked the killer touch. As usual our back four of JT, Andy, Connor and Jack looked solid and coped well with Luke T just in front of them. We eventually broke the deadlock when Charlie crossed for Jaydan to head home. (1-0). We continued to press and were unlucky not to extend our lead.
Warton never really threatened our goal but were awarded a penalty which was duly converted to tie the game up again. (1-1). This was a bit of a body blow but to their credit the lads didn't buckle despite Warton having their best spell of the game. Corey handled well under pressure and looked confident throughout.
It was at this stage that our midfield started to dominate. They challenged for every ball and seemed to win ebery tackle. Kieron and Lewis started to pull the strings and create chances. Jaydan battled his way past a couple of defenders and when the ball broke to George he finished with aplomb. (2-1). We had another couple of half chances but failed to extend our lead. HT 2-1.
The second half started with us taking control from the off but failing to add to our lead despite creating a couple of good chances. The crucial 3rd goal came when Lewis coolly converted a penalty to make it 3-1. George had another chance cleared off the line before Jaydan scored our 4th to make it 4-1.
With Jenson and Alan now pressing on the wings and Liam up front we went in search of more goals but had to settle for the 4. Luke B sured up the midfield and Harrison slotted in at the back as Warton battled to the end. They were rewarded at the death with their second to make the final score 4-2.
POST MATCH
Another excellent performance in the most important match of the season. The whole season rested on the result of one game but the lads played to their normal high standard despite the pressure. Once again some of the football was excellent but for me the thing that won the game for us was the constant pressure we put onto Warton. We never allowed them to play. This then allowed our players to play the football we know they can.
Once again MOTM awards were very difficult with so many good performances but the Parents went to Connor and the managers to Lewis.
CELEBRATION TIME
It was great to see the lads after the game celebrating and they so deserved it after a long season of continual improvement. This shows they have listened and acted upon the instructions we have give  them. We can ask no more. Thank you boys it has been a pleasure coaching you (most of the time).
The 3 cheers the coaches received was much appreciated but we got all the thanks we could ever wish for from the smiles not only on the lads faces but also the parents and supporters who came along. It was great to see so many of you there cheering the boys on.
WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU. OVER THE COURSE OF THE SEASON THE CONTRIBUTION OF EVERY SINGLE PLAYER HAS LED TO US WINNING THE LEAGUE. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS AND THE COACHES AGREE YOU THOROUGHLY DESERVE TO BE CALLED CHAMPIONS.
